COVIDSafe App Launched

Today, Minister for Health Greg Hunt and the Chief Medical Officer released The COVIDSafe app, which will help keep you, your family and your community safe from further spread of coronavirus through early notification of possible exposure.

The COVIDSafe app is just one of the tools we will use to help protect the health of the community by quickly alerting people who may be at risk of having contact with the virus.

CREATE-ive help for kids in care during COVID-19

The Queensland Government has announced more than $60,000 in funding for the CREATE Foundation to help them connect with kids in care and check on them during COVID-19 restrictions.

Minister for Child Safety Di Farmer said the unseen impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic meant it was important to ensure that vulnerable children are okay and that their needs are being met.

Children take an online adventure with the State Library of Queensland

Minister for the Arts Leeanne Enoch today announced that the State Library of Queensland will present a fun program of daily online activities for children, including a targeted program for children aged 0 to 5.

“The online program, which will be posted on Facebook each weekday at 10.00am, is designed to inspire children to engage in talking, reading, singing and learning from the comfort of their own homes,” Ms Enoch said.

New $5m Ipswich Defence Industry Hub geared up for business recruits

Queensland’s first Defence Industry Hub has officially opened in Ipswich, with the $5 million facility ready to recruit more businesses to the local defence supply chain.

Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk said the hub, located in the Ipswich CBD at Fire Station 101 on Limestone Street, will help grow Queensland’s defence industry and create more local jobs.

New station increases Scenic Rim firefighting capacity

The $2.3 million Rathdowney Fire Station is officially open, increasing firefighting capacity in one of our state’s most bushfire-affected communities.

Minister for Fire and Emergency Services Craig Crawford said the Fire and Rescue and Rural Fire Services would share the new facility, allowing them to work together to serve the local community.
