A key Scenic Rim bridge is set for a major upgrade, with a $7.43 million investment to improve safety, resilience and access at Taylor Bridge, Lamington.The Australian Government is contributing $5 million towards the project through the Safer Local Roads and Infrastructure Program – Tranche 4, with Scenic Rim Regional Council contributing $2.43 million.
The project will replace the existing timber Taylor Bridge with a new concrete structure, improving safety and increasing flood immunity for the local road network.
As part of the works, approximately 700 metres of Christmas Creek Road will also be realigned to provide safer road geometry and improve access through the area.
The upgrade will provide a safer and more resilient transport connection for the local community, particularly during severe weather and flooding events.
The Taylor Bridge project was among projects announced for funding under the fourth tranche of the Australian Government's Safer Local Roads and Infrastructure Program in April 2026.
