Major Milestone for Greater Springfield as New Mater Hospital Nears Opening

The new Mater Springfield Public Hospital is set to transform healthcare access in one of Queensland’s fastest-growing regions, following a behind-the-scenes pre-opening tour hosted by the Greater Springfield Chamber of Commerce.

More than just a new medical facility, the hospital represents years of advocacy from key stakeholders including Springfield City Group and Regional Development Australia Ipswich & West Moreton Inc, alongside strong community support for expanded local healthcare services.

Delivered by Mater in partnership with Queensland Health, the modern, patient-focused hospital will introduce vital services including maternity, paediatric and emergency care. The development has also created more than 1,000 jobs, providing a significant boost to the local workforce.

The hospital will open in stages over the coming weeks, with final preparations now underway. Once fully operational, it is expected to strengthen healthcare capacity, support continued population growth and deliver improved health outcomes across the Greater Springfield region.
