About the program
Women in Agriculture supports women looking for work, entering the agricultural sector or building on their existing experience. We bring together training, agricultural employers and employment services to help participants develop skills they can use in the workplace.
Delivered across Ipswich, Lockyer Valley, Scenic Rim and Somerset, the program responds to the changing needs of local farms and agribusinesses. It also helps employers and business owners strengthen the digital capabilities of their teams.
Practical training for modern agriculture
Training ranges from basic digital confidence to agricultural technology and business management. Most courses are fully funded, subject to eligibility and program conditions. Delivery includes self-paced online learning, virtual workshops and classroom training.
Digital confidence
Build confidence with computers, online communication, job-search tools, workplace software and digital safety.
Agricultural technology
Explore farm data, sensors, connectivity, GPS, drones and automation, with options for different experience levels.
Skills for agricultural businesses
Employers can enquire about training for existing staff, including digital tools, cybersecurity and technology adoption.
Employer trainingFarm business management
UQ Skills delivers a four-day skillset covering family business structures, succession planning, business performance and risk. Eligible participants can gain four diploma-level units of competency.
Farm business trainingConnecting training with work
Participants can explore agricultural opportunities through the jobs portal and enquire about supported work placements with local employers. Placements depend on suitable opportunities being available; training and support can be tailored to the role.
Agricultural businesses can advertise vacancies, connect with participants and discuss placements with the program team. The matching and placement service is offered at no cost to participants or employers.
