The Not now, not ever report and the Domestic and family violence prevention strategy 2016–2026 (the strategy) identified groups of people who, for various reasons, face either a higher risk of being subjected to domestic and family violence or face greater challenges in accessing support services to help them escape, or recover from, the violence.

Through the Third action plan of the strategy, the Queensland Government has committed to strengthening responses to address the impact of domestic and family violence on Queenslanders from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds.

The Queensland Government has committed additional funding of $6 million over 4 years to support the prevention of sexual, domestic and family violence in multicultural communities, and $1 million of this funding is committed to facilitating partnerships in multicultural communities through a grant program. This $1 million will be available over 4 years, with $250,000 available each year of the grant program.
