A Year of Pathways, Partnerships and Progress in Greater Springfield

The past week has been one of celebration, collaboration and reflection, providing an opportunity to acknowledge a strong year of working alongside dedicated partners, employers, educators and community organisations across Greater Springfield.

Together, these partnerships have helped promote local employment opportunities, strengthen education-to-employment pathways and support a more connected and informed community. At the centre of this work are the people it impacts most — young people and their families — and the individual journeys that demonstrate the value of coordinated, locally driven action.

Throughout the year, the Springfield Regional Jobs Committee celebrated a range of achievements. These included young people preparing for employment in 2026, students discovering vocational education and training (VET) pathways that best suited their interests while still at school, and those who stepped into industry placements to gain real-world experience aligned with their qualifications. We also celebrated young people who proactively sought work experience and, through those opportunities, successfully secured apprenticeships commencing in 2026.

While these stories highlight individual success, they also reflect the collective effort of schools, employers, training providers, parents and community organisations working together to support young people at key decision-making stages.

The Springfield Regional Jobs Committee is grateful to have played a role in many of these journeys and to have engaged with parents and educators throughout the year. These conversations have focused on the wide range of pathways available and supporting families to navigate what can often feel like a complex education and employment landscape.

This collaboration was particularly evident at the Parent and Pathways Evening held in June, which welcomed close to 200 parents. The strong attendance reinforced the demand for clear, practical guidance to help families support their children’s future education and employment decisions. Connecting parents directly with trusted employers, educators and training providers was a standout moment of the year.

The Springfield Regional Jobs Committee is proudly funded and supported by the Queensland Government, whose ongoing commitment enables continued collaboration, connection and opportunity-building for young people across the region.

As the year draws to a close, the Committee looks forward to building on these partnerships and continuing to support meaningful pathways into employment, training and further education in the year ahead.
