Regional Development Leaders Meet with Queensland Minister to Discuss Opportunities

Representatives from Regional Development Australia (RDA) across Queensland recently came together for their quarterly meeting with the State Government to discuss regional priorities and emerging opportunities.

RDA Ipswich & West Moreton CEO Rees Banks joined fellow RDA representatives at the meeting with Dale Last, Queensland Minister for Natural Resources and Mines, Manufacturing, and Regional and Rural Development, along with Jason Kidd, Deputy Director-General for Manufacturing and Regional and Rural Development, and senior representatives from Manufacturing Queensland.

The meeting provided an opportunity for RDAs to share updates on local economic conditions, including key priorities, emerging industries and the continued growth occurring across regional Queensland.

Attendees also heard from Eugenie Buckley, Deputy Director-General of the Olympic and Paralympic Games Office within Queensland Sport and Recreation, who outlined potential opportunities linked to the upcoming 2032 Summer Olympics. Her presentation highlighted how regional Queensland could benefit through investment, infrastructure development and long-term economic legacy outcomes.

Regular meetings between the Queensland RDA network and State Government agencies play an important role in strengthening collaboration and ensuring regional communities are well positioned to support economic growth, industry development and future opportunities across the state.
