Setting the Direction for Our Region: RDAIWM Strategic Plan 2026–2030

Regional Development Australia Ipswich & West Moreton has released its Strategic Plan 2026–2030, setting the direction for the organisation’s work across Ipswich, Lockyer Valley, Scenic Rim and Somerset over the next four years.

RDAIWM CEO Rees Banks recently met with The Hon Kristy McBain MP, Minister for Regional Development, Territories and Local Government, providing an opportunity to share the new Strategic Plan and discuss the priorities and opportunities shaping the Ipswich & West Moreton region.

The Strategic Plan has been developed in alignment with the Australian Government’s Regional Investment Framework, which places regional priorities and local voices at the centre of decision-making and encourages a coordinated approach to investment across governments.

It has also been influenced by the economic plans and priorities of RDAIWM’s four local government areas and complements programs and initiatives being delivered in partnership with the Queensland Government.

The plan provides a clear framework to guide RDAIWM’s continued work across regional economic development, workforce capability, advocacy, investment and collaboration.

This approach is already being demonstrated through initiatives including the Springfield Regional Jobs Committee and Women in Agriculture, which bring together government, industry, education and community partners to respond to workforce challenges and create practical opportunities across the region.

As part of the national Regional Development Australia network, RDAIWM plays an important role in connecting regional stakeholders with all levels of government and ensuring local priorities, opportunities and challenges are represented in broader policy and investment discussions.

The RDA Ipswich & West Moreton Strategic Plan 2026–2030 will guide this work over the next four years as the organisation continues advocating for the region and working with partners to turn regional priorities into action.
