Behind the Scenes at UniSQ Springfield

Regional Development Australia Ipswich & West Moreton (RDAIWM) and the Springfield Regional Jobs Committee (SRJC) have taken a closer look at the technology, innovation and industry-connected learning underway at the University of Southern Queensland’s Springfield campus.

RDAIWM CEO Rees Banks and SRJC Project Manager Liz Conroy joined members of the Greater Springfield Chamber of Commerce for a special campus tour as UniSQ continues to celebrate 20 years in Greater Springfield.

The visit provided an opportunity to explore some of the university’s specialised facilities and technology, including Quantum Cryo Labs (QC Labs), industrial 3D printing capabilities and the campus flight simulator.

Beyond showcasing the facilities, the evening provided an important opportunity to strengthen connections between regional education, industry and workforce stakeholders.

Rees and Liz connected with UniSQ Vice-Chancellor and President Professor Paul Mazerolle, Pro Vice-Chancellor (Engagement) Shawn Walker, Head of Industry and Community Partnerships Rouz Fard and Paul Ronis from Periscope Management.

For RDAIWM and the Springfield Regional Jobs Committee, partnerships across education, industry and government play an important role in strengthening local workforce pathways and ensuring skills development continues to respond to the needs of employers and emerging industries.

The visit also highlighted the significant education and innovation capability that has developed at UniSQ Springfield over the past two decades and the opportunities this creates for the region’s growing workforce.
