IPSWICH & WEST MORETON

Regional Energy Transition Collaborative
This week, our much-loved CEO, Rees Banks, met with esteemed Energy Engineer Ashley Bland from Constructive Energy in Orange, NSW, to discuss the future of renewable energy.
While not every region is suitable for wind farms, regional Australia has a significant role to play in our energy transition. Less than an hour from Orange, the Blayney Wind Farm, opened in October 2000, and harnesses wind energy above Lake Carcoar and the Carcoar Dam. Although small by modern standards, this wind farm feeds into the national energy grid and supports renewable energy credits.
The energy transition is well underway, transforming how we generate and use energy. The Regional Energy Transition Collaborative project, supported by Advance Queensland, an initiative of the Queensland Government and Regional Development Australia Ipswich & West Moreton, is exploring how Ipswich can keep energy local by promoting energy sharing within the community.
Together, we can alleviate pressure on the energy grid, reduce costs, and deliver benefits to our community.
Want to be part of the project? We’re asking residents, businesses and organisations to join in our research.
