Southern Queensland Education Alliance Launched in Toowoomba

The Southern Queensland Education Alliance (SQEA) was officially launched in Toowoomba yesterday by Professor Barney Glover AO, Commissioner of Jobs and Skills Australia.

Led by the University of Southern Queensland (UniSQ) with TAFE Queensland as its foundation partner, the Alliance brings together education providers, government, and industry to deliver coordinated, place-based solutions. SQEA aims to strengthen skills, improve workforce readiness, and foster innovation across the region.

The initiative seeks to expand opportunities, raise aspirations, and deliver practical outcomes aligned with Southern Queensland’s growth and diverse needs.

Attendees at the launch included Lockyer Valley Regional Councillors Cr Michael Hagan and Cr Cheryl Steinhardt, and Rouz Fard, UniSQ Associate Director of Industry & Community Partnerships and Chair of RDA Darling Downs and South West.

RDA Ipswich & West Moreton welcomed the opportunity to be involved, noting that both UniSQ and TAFE Queensland are members of the Springfield Regional Jobs Committee.
