Supporting Women in Agriculture Through Skills and Local Jobs

Rees, alongside Project Manager Janne Dipple, recently met with Jim McDonald MP in the Lockyer Valley to provide an update on the Women in Agriculture project and the positive outcomes being delivered across the region.

The meeting highlighted the training currently underway, which is supporting women to build digital and IT skills that are increasingly critical to modern agricultural and regional businesses. Through targeted upskilling, the project is helping women access new employment opportunities while supporting local employers to strengthen their workforce.

Discussion also focused on how local businesses are being assisted through the initiative, including practical pathways to connect with skilled local talent. A key tool in this work is the IWM Jobs Portal, which allows employers to advertise jobs for free and helps jobseekers find opportunities close to home.

The Women in Agriculture project continues to play an important role in building a more skilled, connected and resilient regional workforce, ensuring local businesses can grow while creating meaningful employment opportunities for women across the Lockyer Valley.
